The Alessi Series of Tenor Trombone mouthpieces
as described by Joseph Alessi:
"The entire Alessi Signature Series of mouthpieces
has been introduced to provide more options for the player who requires some
extra width and comfort. Just as the countless human feet in this world require
various widths and lengths of shoes, the variations in human faces and chops
require similar options when brass players are choosing a mouthpiece. Alessi
mouthpieces are designed to provide the exact level of fit and comfort to
the "chops" that a correct shoe size provides to a particular human foot.
After all, hiking a long distance can cause the feet to swell and the person
to feel rubbing and pain if the shoes are ill-sized. Similarly, the player
who has more "fleshy" chops performing a long recital might find his or her
lips swelling a bit, at which point the lips need a little more room in the
mouthpiece to "get the job done" without discomfort or compromises in the
performance quality. Many players have commented that they are happy to have
found good choices available through the Alessi mouthpieces. All my mouthpieces
are balanced with the larger rim sizes (1, 3 and 5) and incorporate Greg
Black's excellent outside design. For players who are looking for extra room,
comfort, and balance in a mouthpiece, these models are unmatched!"
"I highly recommend these mouthpieces-made by the
finest craftsman, Greg Black"

The New Alessi AL Series of Mouthpiece
"Thanks to Greg, we have developed the new "AL" series
of Alessi Signature mouthpieces. These pieces mimic the qualities of the
old Bach "AL" series but with the fantastic outer shape designed by Greg
Black. I have personally used this piece when I have played lead in a big
band, in order to fit in with that style of playing. You will be able to
hear this quality on my upcoming cd release where I front my own big band.
I can see a player using these mouthpieces for solo playing and for the jazz
player looking for a little more substance in the sound. As in all of the
Alessi Signature Series of mouthpieces, we have designed this series to
accommodate the player with the need for more room and comfort. The 1, 3,
and 5 rim sizes all match in width with my regular series of mouthpieces.
1 being the largest rim size."

Each model is available in two different weights,
regular and medium. The exterior shape of each mouthpiece is
identical, except the medium has more mass through the bowl section. The
weight difference is approximately .6 of an ounce.
When orders are placed, it is assumed the shank will
be for Symphony Tenor (except Alto models) unless specified differently.
Also, the Symphony Tenor models are available with
different shank sizes: 1) Medium Tenor, ie Bach 36, 2) 'Medium' Shank, ie
Willson Euphonium, and 3) Old Conn, ie 88H. (extra charge - $25.00)
In each of the above mentioned shanks, the bore sizes
and backbore sizes are changed to meet the right balance needed for the
appropriate shank size requested.
Mr. Alessi plays the "Signature" series models
for both Alto and Tenor trombone in the "medium" weight.
