Kenneth Thompkins

Kenneth Thompkins was appointed principal trombonist
of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 1997 by Neeme Jarvi. Prior to this
appointment he has held positions in the Buffalo Philharmonic and The Florida
Orchestra. He has also performed and recorded with the New World Symphony
Orchestra under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. As a chamber musician,
Thompkins performs with the Detroit Chamber Winds and can be heard on their
recording of music by Stravinsky. He made his solo debut with the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra in February 2001.
